The cost to paint the interior of a house in the Reno-Tahoe area varies from around $3.00-6.00 dollars per sqft of floor plan. Variables that factor price are mainly wall height, occupied versus unoccupied and quality of paint. Factors that push this past the normal range are typically reserved for higher end homes where unique finishes and accent walls are more frequent.
-
Yes. Cabinet refinishing can be as low as a third of the cost of new cabinets. Not to mention replacing cabinets is often accompanied by variables that are harder to control like lead time, damage in transport and other construction related delays.

When it comes to paint it truly depends on how dark the exterior is how well the last application was done. We’ve seen some homes go as little as 3 years and as far as 15 years before being repainted. Stain on the other hand depends whether it’s a clear stain or heavy pigmented stain. Lighter stains tend to wear faster since they have less UV protection. Clear stains should be done at least every couple of years and darker stains no more than 5 years between coats.
-
Decks should be stained every year here at the lake. This keeps the deck from drying out and warping leading to an uneven deck.
-
Yes! All licensed contractors in the state of Nevada are required to be insured and have workers comp.
-
Yes, it is very important to have the drywall repairs done prior to painting to avoid uneven surfaces and sound surface to paint.
-
Besides the aesthetic difference. Paint last longer than stain due to higher UV protection and a larger moisture barrier. Paint will outlast almost any stain as long as it properly applied. However when paint being to fail it tend to flake off the wood causing sanding a scraping to be required. When staining begins to fail it typically fades leading to discoloration. Both require two different prep processes.
